Virginia Beach

Here are some of the flag football opportunities available in Virginia Beach, including city-sponsored leagues, community organizations, and school programs.

City-Sponsored Leagues

The City of Virginia Beach offers youth flag football leagues through its Sports Management Office. The leagues are open to boys and girls ages 6-17, and are divided into four age groups: 6-8, 9-11, 12-14, and 15-17. The leagues run from September to November, with games played on Saturdays at various locations throughout the city. The registration fee is $50 per player, which includes a jersey, flags, and insurance. Registration is done online through the Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation Online Registration portal. The registration deadline for the fall 2022 season is August 15.

-The Coed Youth Flag Football league offered by the City of Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation is open to boys and girls ages 6-17 and is played on Fridays at the Princess Anne Athletic Complex. The league has four age divisions: 6-8, 9-11, 12-14 and 15-17. The registration fee is $50 per player and includes a jersey, flag belt and mouthpiece. The registration deadline is March 1st and the season runs from April to June. -The Association of Courthouse Recreation (ACHR) is an all volunteer youth recreational sports association that has been offering team sports to the youth in the Courthouse area of Virginia Beach since 1985. ACHR offers co-ed flag football for ages 5 to 16 in the fall and spring seasons.

ACHR flag football is a great way to learn the fundamentals of football, develop skills, make friends and have fun. ACHR flag football follows the rules and guidelines of the NFL Flag program, which is designed to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for players of all skill levels. ACHR flag football teams play 5-on-5 games on a 60-yard field with no blocking or tackling. ACHR flag football emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork and fair play.

ACHR flag football teams are formed by a draft system based on age divisions. ACHR tries to schedule two practices a week for each team, usually at one of the 11 local elementary schools in the Courthouse area. Games are also held at these schools, mostly on weekends. ACHR provides each player with a reversible NFL Flag jersey and a flag belt. Players need to bring their own mouth guard, cleats and water bottle.

ACHR flag football registration is open online from January 1 to February 28 for the spring season and from July 1 to August 31 for the fall season. The registration fee is $75 per player, plus a $3 service fee for online payments. Late registrations are accepted until March 15 for the spring season and September 15 for the fall season, with an additional $10 late fee. ACHR offers discounts for multiple players from the same family and scholarships for players who need financial assistance.

Community Organizations

State law requires that all coaches, referees and volunteers provide a current BACKGROUND CHECK which must be updated every 2 years.

 

Leesburg

The Fall NFL Flag Football League offered by the Town of Leesburg, Virginia is open to boys and girls ages 6 to 17, and it follows the national NFL flag football rules. You will get to wear official NFL jerseys, play on quality fields, and compete for a league championship. Here are some details you need to know:

– The fall season will run from late August to late October, with six games guaranteed and playoffs for the top teams.
– You need to register online before filling out the player information form. The registration fee is $125 for residents and $150 for non-residents. No refunds will be given after July 8th.
– You also need to attend an evaluation in mid-July to determine your skill level and be drafted on a team. The evaluations will take place at the Ida Lee Flag Football Field on different dates and times depending on your age group. See the schedule below for more details.
– Practices will begin in mid-August and games will start at the end of August. A coach will contact you to let you know when and where your practice is. Practices are held on various weekday evenings and some Saturdays before the season starts.

Virginia Hurricanes

The Virginia Hurricanes are a girls flag football program that offers teams for different age groups, from grades 1 to 12. The teams compete locally, regionally and nationally, and have won five NFL Flag Football National Championship titles.

The Virginia Hurricanes have three main teams: the 10U, the 12U and the 14U. The 10U team is made up of girls in grades 4 to 6, the 12U team is made up of girls in grades 6 to 8, and the 14U team is made up of girls in grades 8 to 10. The teams practice and play in Arlington County, Virginia.

The Virginia Hurricanes have a remarkable track record of success. The 10U team has won the NFL Flag Football National Championship twice in a row, in January and February. The team dominated the field of 14 teams from different states, outscoring their opponents by a total score of 197-27. The 12U team and the 14U team also qualified for the national tournament and performed well.

The Virginia Hurricanes are coached by Mike Rivera, who has over 20 years of experience coaching girls basketball and flag football. He is assisted by other qualified and dedicated coaches who help the players develop their skills, teamwork and confidence.

If you are looking for a place to play flag football in Centreville, Virginia, you should check out Aim High Youth Sports Association. Aim High offers recreational, elite, and all-girls flag football programs for boys and girls ages 5 to 17. You can learn the skills and rules of the game, wear NFL gear, and compete with your friends and neighbors.

Aim High has partnered with the NFL to provide a high-quality flag football experience for its players. You will get a branded NFL team jersey to keep, players insurance, and coaching education. Washington Commanders

The Washington Commanders Flag Football program is a no-contact league that follows the NFL FLAG rules and is open to boys and girls from Pre-K to 8th grade. The league operates in various locations across Virginia, including Chesapeake, Hampton, Loudoun County, Prince William County, Virginia Beach and Yorktown.

The Spring season runs for seven weeks, starting from April 14th. Teams meet once per week on Sundays for a total of two hours, which includes practice and game time. The registration fee is $139.99 per player, which includes a reversible NFL FLAG jersey, a flag belt and a participation award. Chesapeake

Chesapeake Parks, Recreation and Tourism offers recreational youth flag football for different age groups, from 5 to 13 years old. The program focuses on enhancing each youth’s knowledge of the game and skill level on the field while providing a positive sports experience emphasizing sportsmanship and fun. The age as of March 31 determines the eligibility and age group of the participants. The registration fee is $60 per player, which includes a game jersey provided by the department.

The flag football leagues are divided into four areas: Deep Creek, Great Bridge, Indian River and Western Branch. Each area has its own community center or school where practices take place. Coaches set the practice schedules based on their availability and will contact the players about their approved practice days and times. Games are played at various locations citywide, and game schedules are posted online prior to the beginning of the season. The season runs from March to June, with inclement weather make-ups and playoffs (for qualifying teams) possibly extending into June.

Ultimate Flag

Ultimate Flag is a program offered by Ashburn Youth Football League (AYFL). Ultimate Flag is a hybrid format that combines elements of contact and flag football, such as helmets, shoulder pads, blocking and rushing, but without tackling. This allows players to develop advanced football skills in a low-contact environment.

Ultimate Flag is open to players from kindergarten to eighth grade, and games are played on Sundays from March 4th to June 9th. The registration fees vary depending on the grade level, and they cover the cost of the equipment, uniforms, referees and field rentals. Ultimate Flag has four different leagues based on grade level: A8-League for eighth graders, A7-League for seventh graders, B-League for fifth and sixth graders, and C-League for third and fourth graders. Each league has an 8-on-8 format, which means there are three linemen and five skills positions on each team. There are no running restrictions, so players can run the ball from any position.

Ultimate Flag also has a D-League for kindergarten to second grade players, which has a 5-on-5 format and no helmets or shoulder pads. This league is designed to introduce young players to the basics of football in a fun and safe way.

– The Braddock Road Youth Club (BRYC) Flag Football program is open to boys and girls of all skill levels, from kindergarten to eighth grade. BRYC Flag Football offers a non-contact football experience that teaches the fundamentals of the game in a safe and nurturing environment.

BRYC Flag Football has been serving the community for over 20 years, with a proud tradition of excellence and sportsmanship. The program is managed by a club that serves over 5,000 players in multiple sports, including basketball, cheer, softball, soccer and volleyball. The program serves over 400 children in the Fairfax, Burke, Springfield, Annandale and Clifton areas of Fairfax County.

The program runs in the fall and spring seasons, with registration opening in July and January respectively. The registration fee is $125 per player, which includes a jersey, flags and mouthpiece. The Forest Youth Athletic Association (FYAA) is a non-profit organization that offers various sports programs for children ages 4 to 18 in Central Virginia.
