Statewide Flag Football Organizations

NJ FLAG: If you are looking for a fun and competitive way to play flag football in New Jersey, you should check out NJ Flag. NJ Flag is a league that offers different age divisions for both boys and girls, from 3 to 14 years old. You can register online at https://www.njflag.com/ and choose from various locations, such as Total Turf Experience, Cherry Hill West High School, Cherry Hill East High School, or Adventure Sports and Entertainment.

NJ Flag is affiliated with NFL Flag and provides each player with an NFL Flag reversible top, a pair of sonic pop in game flags, and a mouth piece. Players are also required to wear soft shell helmets for safety.

The league operates in the spring, winter and fall, with each season lasting 6 to 8 weeks. Each team plays one or more games per week on Sundays, with each game being 30 minutes long. The league is very competitive and every team makes the playoffs at the end of the regular season.

The registration fee varies depending on the location, but it is usually between $150 and $160. You can also volunteer as a coach or an assistant coach and decide the practice time and location for your team. The league expects each team to practice at least once a week.  To coach or volunteer you MUST show proof of a BACKGROUND CHECK (updated every 2 years). 
New Jersey AYF (American Youth Football)  is a non-profit organization that offers youth football and cheerleading programs for boys and girls ages 5 to 14. NJAYF is part of the Jersey Shore Conference, which consists of 16 associations from Monmouth and Ocean counties.

NJAYF has something for everyone, whether you are a beginner or an experienced player. You can choose from different levels of competition, such as instructional, competitive or elite. You can also participate in local, regional and national tournaments, where you can showcase your skills and have fun with your teammates.

To join NJAYF, you need to register with one of the associations in your area. You can find the list of associations and their contact information on the NJAYF website. The registration fee varies depending on the association, but it usually includes a uniform, equipment, insurance and membership dues. The registration period typically starts in March and ends in July, but some associations may have different deadlines.

NJAYF is more than just a sports league. It is also a community that fosters sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership and character development. NJAYF follows the AYF/AYC Code of Conduct, which promotes respect, responsibility and safety for all participants. NJAYF also supports academic achievement and community service through its Scholastic Achievement Program and its Helping Hands Program.

NJ State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA): This is the official governing body of high school sports in New Jersey, and it offers girls flag football as a pilot program in partnership with the New York Jets. You can join one of the 12 participating schools or start your own team at your school. The season runs from April to June, and the playoffs are held in July. Northern New Jersey

New Jersey NFL Flag Football League– This league operates in Northern New Jersey, mainly in Bergen County. The games are played on Sundays at various locations, such as Tenafly High School, Tenafly Middle School, Tenakill Middle School and Cresskill High School. The schedules are subject to change based on registration numbers per division. The New Jersey NFL Flag Football League has been operating since 2014 and offers a variety of divisions for different age groups and skill levels. You can register online for the spring  season, which starts on March 17th and ends on May 19th. The registration fee is $230, but you can get discounts for early-bird, family or sibling registrations. The registration includes an official NFL Football reversible jersey and belt, as well as field usage, insurance, coaching instruction and game officials. You can also order additional NFL Flag official field gear during the registration process.

The league follows the NFL Flag rules and guidelines, which teach the core fundamentals of football through flag football, emphasizing teamwork and the love of the game. Players are coached to develop their skills in passing, catching, ball carrying, route running and defensive pass coverage. The league also supports charitable causes, such as the JDRF Marathon Team, which raises funds for type 1 diabetes research.

The New Jersey Flag Football Association (NJFFA) offers NFL flag football leagues for players of all ages and skill levels, from PreK to 9th grade. You can join as an individual or as a team, and enjoy the benefits of playing in an official NFL flag football program.

The NJFFA runs two seasons per year: spring and fall. The spring season starts in March and the fall season starts in October. Each season consists of eight regular season games plus playoffs. The games are played on Saturdays and Sundays on fields located throughout North Jersey. The schedules are flexible and can accommodate most other sports.

The registration for the spring season opens on January 1st and the registration for the fall season opens on July 1st. You can register online by clicking on the “REGISTER” tab on the NJFFA website. The registration fee includes an official NFL flag football reversible jersey and flag belt set to keep forever, as well as all field and game officials’ fees.

The NJFFA also hosts a 9-man ineligible linemen flag football league for adults who want to play at a higher level of competition. The 9-man league follows a different set of rules than the youth leagues, and requires players to wear football pants and similar jerseys. The 9-man league plays on Sundays only, and has a separate registration process.

Southern New Jersey

The South Jersey Youth Flag Football (SJYFF) league is a non-contact, co-ed league that offers different age groups and skill levels for players from 5 to 17 years old. SJYFF also hosts the Battle on the Beach tournament, a two-day event that attracts teams from all over the country.

SJYFF has two seasons: spring and fall. The spring season runs from April to June, and the fall season runs from September to November. Each season consists of eight regular games and playoffs. The games are played on Saturdays at various locations in South Jersey, such as Cherry Hill, Marlton, Medford, and Voorhees.

The registration fee for each season is $150 per player, which includes a reversible jersey, shorts, flags, insurance, referee fees, and field rental. Pequannock

If you are looking for a fun and exciting way to introduce your daughter to the sport of football, you might want to check out the Spring Girls Flag Football League offered by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest New Jersey. This program is designed to give girls in grades 3-8 an opportunity to learn the basics of football and develop a better appreciation of the game. It is also a wonderful experience, a great way to learn the skills of teamwork and a lot of fun.

The league is divided into two divisions: Junior Varsity for grades 3-5 and Varsity for grades 6-8. The girls will practice for the first half hour and then they will play a game every Thursday at 5:30 pm. The tentative start date is Thursday, May 4th and the program runs for 5 weeks. The cost is $75 and flag football equipment is provided.

Egg Harbor

If you are looking for a fun and exciting way to play flag football in Egg Harbor Township, NJ, you should check out the PAL’s NFL Flag Football League. This league offers co-ed divisions for ages 5 to 14, with games and practices held on an indoor astro-turf field at the Police Activities League of Atlantic County. Here are some details about the league and how to register:

– The league has two seasons: winter and spring. The winter season runs from January 16th to March 10th, and the spring season runs from March 26th to May 19th.
– The league divisions are based on the age of the child as of January 1st, not their current age or the age they will be during the season. Players can play up an age group if desired, but not down a level.
– The league follows the Official NFL Flag Rule Handbook, which means no physical contact at all, 7 players vs. 7 players, two 22-minute halves per game, and one timeout per half. All athletes must wear a mouthpiece (not provided) and an official reversible NFL jersey (included in the registration fee).

– The league relies on volunteer coaches, who have precedence over parents when requesting particular players for their roster. Coaches are required to attend all practices and games. If you are interested in becoming a coach, you MUST provide a BACKGROUND CHECK. 
– Each team will have one 50-minute practice session during the week on Tuesday nights at either 5:30pm, 6:30pm or 7:30pm. Some teams may practice on Wednesday nights if there are high numbers of registrations. Teams will have a portion of the field to conduct practice.
– Games will be held on Sunday mornings starting at 9am, in chronological order starting with the youngest division. The schedule for practices and games is available online by clicking on the button below.
– For athletes aged 8 and older, there will be a combine on Friday, March 15th at 6:30pm to evaluate their skills and form balanced teams.

BECOME A COACH OR VOLUNTEER

Flag football relies on the support of great coaches, volunteers, and referees to make it a successful program. They are the amazing people that shape the overall experience for the young athletes and encourage their interest in sports.  ALL COACHES, REFEREES and VOLUNTEERS must submit a completed background check!  In all 50 states, this must be updated every 2 years BY LAW!  You can get this check very quickly online for around $40.

 

Middletown

One of the places where you can play flag football in Middletown is Saint Mary School, a Catholic school that offers a variety of academic, spiritual, and extracurricular programs for students from preschool to eighth grade. Saint Mary School has a flag football league that is divided into four divisions based on grade level: Pre-K, K-2nd, 3rd-5th, and 6th-8th. Each division has its own rules, schedule, and coaches. The league runs from September to November and costs $75 per player. The registration deadline is August 31st.

To register for the Saint Mary School flag football league, you need to visit their website at https://www.stmaryes.org/flag-football and click on the division that corresponds to your child’s grade level. You will be redirected to a page where you can fill out an online form with your personal information, payment method, and waiver agreement. You will also need to provide a copy of your child’s birth certificate and a recent photo. After you submit the form, you will receive a confirmation email with more details about the league.

Sparta Township

Sparta Youth Football in Sparta Township, New Jersey  is a coed sport for children ages 5 to 13, where players wear flags instead of tackling each other. This allows them to learn the skill positions of the game, such as quarterback, wide receiver, and running back, without the risk of injury. Flag football also teaches children the importance of teamwork, communication, and strategy, while having fun and making friends.

Sparta Youth Football is a community-based organization that has been running since 1957. They host various events throughout the year, such as the annual “Milkbowl”, to raise funds and awareness for local causes. They also have a cheerleading program for children who want to support their teams and show their Spartan pride.

Registration for the flag football season starts on June 20, and the cost of registration is $125 per player, which includes a jersey, flags, and insurance. The season runs from August to October, with games on Saturdays and practices on weekdays.

Hamilton

The Hamilton NFL Flag Football league is for young athletes ages 5-16, where they can learn the skills and rules of the game without the contact and risk of injury. Hamilton NFL Flag Football was started by a group of Little League players and their friends who wanted to create their own flag football league in Fall 2022. They found a great location at Van Horn Park, where they have access to spacious fields and facilities. The league is affiliated with the NFL, which means they use official NFL jerseys and flags, and follow the NFL Flag Football rules.

The league has four divisions based on age: Rookie (5-6), Junior (7-8), Senior (9-11), and Pro (12-16). Each division has its own schedule, standings, playoffs, and championship. The games are played on Saturdays, starting from September 10th and ending on November 19th. The registration fee is $125 per player, which includes the jersey, flag belt, insurance, referees, trophies, and pictures. The registration deadline is August 31st, but spots are limited, so don’t wait too long to sign up!

Morris County

 

If you are looking to play flag football in Morris County, NJ, you should check out No Idea Sports. No Idea Sports is a company that organizes sports leagues for young professionals who want to stay active, socialize, and have fun. They offer co-ed and men’s flag football leagues in Morristown and Morris Plains, as well as other sports like basketball, bocce ball, cornhole, dodgeball, floor hockey, kickball, lacrosse, skeeball, soccer, softball, and volleyball.

No Idea Sports flag football leagues are 7-on-7 or 8-on-8, depending on the season and location. The games are played on turf fields at Central Park in Morris Plains or on grass fields at Morristown High School. The leagues run for 8 weeks, including playoffs, and the games are on Thursdays at 6:30, 7:30, 8:30, or 9:30 pm. The registration fee is $85 per person for early registration, and it includes a team shirt, officials, equipment, and a league administrator. Medford

The MYAA Flag Football League is open to boys and girls from Pre-Kindergarten through High School, and it offers different levels of competition and instruction based on the grade divisions. The league is played at Freedom Park [86 Union St Medford NJ 08055] on Saturdays, starting from September 23rd. The cost is $185 per player, which includes a $10 MYAA Facilities Improvement Fee.

The MYAA Flag Football League is a great opportunity to learn the basics of the game, improve your skills, and have fun with your friends. You can sign up as an individual and be assigned to a team, or you can join as a team with a coach and at least 10 players. The league has a regular season and playoffs, and the games are officiated by referees. The youngest age group, which is typically Pre-K / Kindergarten, focuses more on learning and having fun, while the older age groups are more competitive and challenging.

Basking Ridge

The Jr Red Devils Flag Football Club has been running for over 20 years and serves boys and girls in Basking Ridge and nearby towns. Here are some of the highlights of this club and how you can join.

– The club offers a unique league format that ensures competitive games and equal participation for all players. The games are fast-paced and fun, with a focus on learning and enjoying the sport.

Burlington and Hamilton County

If you are looking for a place to play flag football in your area, you might want to check out the YMCA of Burlington and Hamilton County. They offer a variety of programs and leagues for children, youth and adults who want to learn and play the game. Here are some of the details you need to know:

This program is for grades K-3 and it is a non-contact sport that teaches basic skills and sportsmanship. Teams are formed based on elementary schools and games are played on Saturdays and Sundays from September to October. Elite Flag Football
This program is for grades 4-5 and it is a step between flag and tackle football. Players wear soft helmets and shoulder pads and contact is allowed for blocking and defense. Tackle Football
This program is for grades 6-8 and it is a full-contact sport that participates in the New Jersey Suburban Youth Football League. Teams are formed based on age, grade and skill level and games are played on Sundays from September to October. The registration fee is $240 per participant (or $200 if you enroll before May 19) and it increases to $290 after June 30. Hillsborough

If you are looking for a fun and exciting way to play flag football in Hillsborough, NJ, you have two options to choose from: the NFL Flag Football In-town program and the NFL Flag Football Travel program. Both programs are offered by Hillsborough Youth Sports, a non-profit organization that provides various sports opportunities for kids in grades K-8.

The NFL Flag Football In-town program is for grades K-2, co-ed players who want to learn the basics and fundamentals of flag football. The games are played on Sunday mornings at the Hillsborough Triangle Road Sports Complex. The practices are held four evenings a week for three weeks in August, and then once a week after Labor Day. The registration fee is $150 per player, and there is a $250 work bond per family that can be refunded after fulfilling the volunteer requirement, returning the equipment and participating in the calendar raffle. The Bergen County Flag Football League (BCFL) is a partnership between NFL FLAG Football, the official flag football league of the NFL, and local youth sports leaders Rabbi Avi Rosalimsky and Steve Gutlove. The BCFL offers four divisions for different age groups: K-1, 2-3, 4-5 and 6-8. Girls and boys are both welcome, but the older divisions are separated.

The NFL Flag Football program at Branchburg Sports Complex (BSC) is an official league of the NFL Flag Program and offers year-round sessions for players in pre-k through 6th grade. The Lincroft Flag Football (LFFL) is a community-based league that offers flag football for boys and girls from kindergarten to 8th grade. LFFL has four divisions: Pee Wee (K-1), Junior (2-3), Intermediate (4-5) and Senior (6-8). LFFL plays its games at Thompson Middle School in Middletown, NJ.

LFFL is currently accepting registrations for the Fall season, which runs from September to November. Central Jersey Flag

Central Jersey Flag has different divisions based on age as of January 1, 2024. Depending on your child’s birthday, they may not be playing in the same division as their friends. The number of players accepted is subject to the number of volunteer coaches signed up and the number of fields available. Special Olympics

Clifton

One of the leagues they offer  in Clifton area is the 7v7 Men’s Flag Football league . This league plays on Sunday mornings at Athenia Steel Park, a turf field with plenty of space and parking. The league has two seasons: Winter 2024, which starts on February 18 and ends on April 1, and Spring 2024, which starts on April 7 and ends on May 19. The registration deadline for each season is one week before the start date.

The league fee is $1,375 per team or $133 per individual, but you can save $100 if you register before February 4 for the winter season or March 24 for the spring season. The fee includes reserved field access, league referees and site managers, playoffs for teams that qualify, prizes for the championship team, and food and drink specials at NJ Play sponsor bars.
