NFL FLAG ALASKA This is the official flag football program of the NFL and offers leagues for boys and girls ages 5 to 17. This is a league that organizes youth girls and boys to play according to the national NFL flag football rules. You can enjoy the benefits of playing in a team, learning new skills, and having fun with your friends.

NFL Flag Alaska provides everything you need to play, including jerseys, referees, flags, fields, and footballs. You just need to bring your own athletic attire, non-metal football cleats or sneakers, and mouthpiece. Alaska Flag Football League: They offer flag football leagues for men, women, and coed teams. – The Cook Inlet Conference (CIC) is the largest high school flag football league in Alaska, with eight teams from Anchorage competing for the championship every fall. The CIC has been running since 2006 and has seen some amazing talent and thrilling games over the years. The most successful team in CIC history is Dimond High School, which has won 11 titles, including four in a row from 2020 to 2023. The latest CIC champion was Dimond, which defeated South High School 26-7 on October 13, led by offensive player of the year Mai Mateaki, who ran for two touchdowns and threw another one. – The Mat-Su Flag Football League (MSFFL), which runs from June to August at various locations in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. The MSFFL has three divisions: Men’s Competitive, Men’s Recreational and Co-ed Recreational. You can register as a team or as an individual player. Anchorage

Here are some of the options you can explore for flag football in Anchorage:

Club Sports Alaska offers a co-ed youth flag football league for children between 5 and 15 years old. It is open to boys and girls and runs from August to October. Teams play on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Arctic Rec Center in Anchorage. The program is designed to teach the basics of flag football, such as passing, catching, running and defense. The games are officiated by trained referees and coached by volunteers. The program is also affordable, with a registration fee of $125 per player.

Here are some of the flag football options available in ASD:

High School Flag Football: This is a girls-only sport that runs from August to October. It is open to students in grades 9-12 who meet the eligibility requirements. Dimond High School Football: This is a program for high school students who want to learn the principles of a successful life and use football to reinforce them. – The Boys & Girls Clubs – Alaska Athletics offer flag football for grades 1-8 in the summer and fall seasons, along with cheerleading for the same grades. – The Anchorage Sports Association (ASA), which offer flag football programs for adults ages 18 and up at various locations in Anchorage. The ASA flag football programs run from September to November and are designed to provide adults with a fun and competitive way to play the game. Club Sports

If you are looking for a fun and family-friendly way to play flag football in Alaska, you should check out Club Sports Alaska’s outdoor flag football program. This program is open to co-ed children between the ages of 6 and 15, and it runs from August 24th to September 30th.

All games are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with 30 minutes of practice and 45 minutes of game action each night. Pop Warner Football

The Alaska South Central Pop Warner Football and Cheer Association offers flag football programs for youth ages 5 to 14 in Anchorage, Eagle River and the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. You can register online at https://www.alaskapopwarner.net/ from February 1st.

The registration fee varies depending on the age group and the association you choose. You can find the contact information of each association under the football tab on the website. The season starts in September and ends in October, with games played at different fields across the region.

You can also join the cheerleading program if you want to support your team and learn some skills. The Alaska South Central Pop Warner Football and Cheer Association is affiliated with the national Pop Warner organization, which promotes safety, sportsmanship and academic excellence. The Community House

The Flag Football League offered by The Community House is open to boys and girls in grades 1-8, and it follows a hybrid of UA and NFL flag rules. Here are some of the details you need to know:

– The registration fee is $175 for residents and $225 for non-residents, which includes a jersey, flag belt, and mouth guard.

Mat-Su Seahawks

The Mat-Su Seahawks, a youth organization that offers programs for football and cheerleading in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley are part of the Alaska South Central Pop Warner. The Mat-Su Seahawks have various options for flag football, depending on the age and skill level of the participants. You can register online for the winter flag football program, which runs from January to March at the Menard Sports Center Turf Field in Wasilla. The registration fee is $150 per player and includes a jersey, shorts, and flags. The program is open to boys and girls ages 5 to 14.

The Mat-Su Seahawks also offer tackle football and cheerleading programs for different age groups and weight classes. These programs follow the rules and guidelines of the Pop Warner Little Scholars, which emphasize academic achievement, safety, and sportsmanship. Flag Football for Girls in Alaska

Flag football is especially popular among girls in Alaska, where there are many high school teams competing in different regions. According to MaxPreps, a website that covers high school sports, there are 10 girls flag football teams in Alaska as of December 2023. The top-ranked team is Dimond High School from Anchorage, with a record of 16-1-0. The second-ranked team is Lathrop High School from Fairbanks, with a record of 5-0-1. The other teams in the top 10 are South Anchorage, West Anchorage, Colony, Service, Wasilla, Chugiak, Bartlett and Eagle River.

Juneau

The Juneau Youth Football League (JYFL) offers flag football for boys and girls ages 5 to 14, as well as tackle football for grades 3 to 8. Flag football is a great way to learn the basics of the game, develop skills, and have fun with your friends. Flag football is also safer than tackle football, as there is no contact or tackling involved.

JYFL has several flag football teams that practice and play at different locations in Juneau, such as Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park, Melvin Park, Dimond Park Field House, Thunder Mountain High School, Miller Field, and Glacier Valley Covered Area. Fairbanks

– The Fairbanks Youth Football and Cheer (FYFC)  is a non-profit organization that offers flag football, tackle football and cheerleading programs for kids aged 5 to 14 in Fairbanks, Alaska. Here are some of the benefits and details of joining FYFC:

– You can choose from different levels of play, depending on your age and skill level. FYFC has four divisions: Flag (5-7 years old), Pee Wee (8-9 years old), Junior (10-11 years old) and Senior (12-14 years old).

University of Alaska Fairbanks

The intramural sports program at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) allow students, faculty, staff and community members to participate in team and individual sport activities. You can choose from a variety of sports, such as basketball, volleyball, soccer, flag football, tennis, pickleball, ice hockey, ultimate frisbee, rock climbing and pub sports. All sports are co-ed and open to different skill levels.

To participate in the UAF intramural program, you need to register on the UAF intramural website https://www.uaf.edu/recreation/src/intramurals.php. You also need to pay a fee for each sport you want to play, as well as an intramural membership fee if you are not a current student or SRC member. The fees vary depending on the sport and can be paid at the front desk of the Student Recreation Center (SRC). The flag football program offered by Chugiak Youth Sports Association (CYSA) is a nonprofit organization that provides recreational youth sports to Eagle River area families. They offer outdoor and indoor soccer, flag football, basketball and volleyball annually. Their mission is “developing healthy confident kids in our community through recreational team sports”.

Flag football is a non-contact sport that teaches kids the basic skills of football, such as passing, catching, running and teamwork. It is suitable for kids ages 5 to 14, and there are different divisions based on age and skill level. The flag football season runs from August to October, with games played on Saturdays at the Harry J. McDonald Memorial Center. Kodiak

The City of Kodiak Parks and Recreation Department program is open to boys and girls in grades 3 to 8, who are at least 8 years old by September 1st. You can register at the Teen Center until July 18th for $40 per participant.

The flag football season will run for six weeks, starting on July 11th. The practices will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays, depending on the age group. The games will be played at Baranof Park, where you can enjoy the fresh air and the scenic views. Flag football is a great way to learn teamwork, sportsmanship, and the basics of football, without the risk of tackling or injuries.
