Midwest Flag Football

Midwest Flag Football is an organization that offers flag football leagues, tournaments, camps, and clinics for players of all ages and skill levels in Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Wisconsin, Missouri, and South Dakota. They have been operating since 2008 and have over 10,000 participants annually.

Some of the programs and events that Midwest Flag Football offers are:

Youth Leagues: These are seasonal leagues for boys and girls from kindergarten to 8th grade. They are divided into different divisions based on age and skill level. The leagues run in the spring, summer, fall, and winter seasons. The registration fee varies depending on the season and location, but it usually ranges from $75 to $125 per player. Southern Wisconsin

The Southern Wisconsin Youth Football Team (SWYFT) is an NFL Flag affiliated league that offers co-ed, non-contact, 5 vs. 5 flag football for kids ages 6 to 15. Here are some of the features and benefits of joining SWYFT:

– SWYFT was founded in 2020 with a mission that The Kids Come 1st. The current League Operator and his wife have a passion for helping kids create wonderful childhood memories through flag football.
– SWYFT plays at the Milwaukee Yard in Oak Creek, WI, a state-of-the-art facility with digital scoreboards, private fields, and ample spectator seating.
– SWYFT has three age divisions: 8U, 12U, and JV. The divisions are based on the NFL Flag format and may be adjusted depending on the number of registrants.
– SWYFT accepts friend requests but does not allow club teams to play together. The goal is to have balanced teams that allow everyone to have fun and learn the game.
– SWYFT provides each player with an authentic NFL flag jersey and a flag belt, theirs to keep. Players can choose from any of the 32 NFL teams.
– SWYFT has an 8-practice/6-game season that runs from March 23rd to May 18th. Games are held on Saturdays between 8:00am and 5:00pm. Practices take place 30 minutes before game time each week.
– SWYFT has a season-ending Wild Card tournament, with winners advancing to the Superbowl. Championship teams receive a Superbowl ring.

Appleton

The Youth Flag Football League offered by Appleton Parks and Recreation is designed for boys and girls in grades 1 to 6, and it focuses on skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship and fun. Here are some details about the league that you should know:

– The league runs from September to October, with games on Saturdays at various locations in Appleton.
– The registration fee is $40 per child, which includes a team jersey and flag belt.
– The registration deadline is August 15, but spots are limited and may fill up before then.

Watertown

Here are some of the options you can choose from:

Watertown Youth Football: This is a program for 5th to 8th graders who want to learn the fundamentals of football and have fun with their peers. They practice for four weeks and then play seven weekly games on Saturdays at various locations. The registration fee is $150 per player, which includes a jersey, pants, mouth guard and helmet. La Crosse

The Youth Flag Football program offered by the La Crosse Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department is open to kids from kindergarten to fifth grade who want to learn the basics of football and play in a friendly and safe environment. Here are some details about the program that you should know:

– The program runs from September 5 to October 27 at various schools and parks around the City of La Crosse.
– The registration fee is $30 per player, which includes a team shirt and a mouth guard. You can register online or in person at the Parks & Rec office until September 14.

Leagues

Fond du Lac Recreation Department: The Recreation Department runs several flag football leagues for youth and adults throughout the year. Flag Football YMCA’s in Wisconsin

The Youth Flag Football program offered by the Glacial Community YMCA is designed to help kids learn football skills such as throwing and catching while being part of a team in a no-tackle environment.

The program is available for boys and girls in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade at two branches: YMCA at Pabst Farms and Watertown Area YMCA. The spring league runs from April 1 to May 18, with practices held one evening per week and games held on Saturdays. The registration fee varies depending on the branch and the membership status, but it ranges from $40 to $100.

The program relies on volunteer coaches who are trained and supported by the YMCA staff. The program aims to teach sports fundamentals, good sportsmanship, character, discipline, competitiveness and teamwork in a positive, caring and safe environment.

The league runs from August to October, with games on Saturdays at the Westosha Central Football Stadium. The registration fee is $75 per player, which includes a jersey, flag belt and mouth guard. Sussex

The Sussex Flag Football Program is provided by the Sussex Lions Club and the Sussex Area Service Club and it is open to kids from 1st to 6th grade who live in or near Sussex, Wisconsin.

The program aims to teach kids valuable lessons such as good sportsmanship, teamwork, responsibility, respect, and self-esteem. It also gives them a chance to learn the basics of flag football, a non-contact version of American football that uses flags instead of tackling. The program is run by volunteer parents who coach, referee, and help out in various ways.

The registration for the program takes place in August at Hamilton High School in the cafeteria. The registration fee is $35 for Hamilton District residents and $45 for non-residents. There are also family discounts available for multiple children. The program runs from September to October, with games played on weekday evenings or Saturday mornings depending on the grade level.

There are six teams for 1st and 2nd graders, and eight teams for 3rd and 4th graders and 5th and 6th graders. Each team is named after a college or NFL team, such as Badgers, Gophers, Hawkeyes, Hoosiers, Spartans, Wildcats, Cowboys, Dolphins, Jets, Lions, Packers, Raiders, Steelers, and Vikings. Each player has a starting position on either offense or defense and plays at least half of the game. The 1st and 2nd grade level is purely instructional, while the 3rd and up level has a competitive element with a Super Bowl game at the end of the season.

The program also has a banquet in November to celebrate the achievements of the players and thank the volunteers. The banquet is held at Hamilton High School in the cafeteria on Saturday, November 4. The 3rd and 4th grade banquet starts at 11:15 am, while the 1st and 2nd grade and 5th and 6th grade banquet starts at 1:00 pm.

The Bryant & Stratton College – Wisconsin Bobcats are a women’s flag football team that competes in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). They have a schedule of games for the season that will take them to different states and challenge them against other colleges.

The Bobcats are based in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, and they play their home games at Hart Park. They are coached by Jared Cardarelle, who has experience in coaching both flag and tackle football. Special Olympics Flag Football Wisconsin

The flag football season for SOWI runs from June to September. All teams will compete at the Fall Games at Woodside Dells in Wisconsin Dells on September 8-10, 2023. To register for the Fall Games, teams must submit an Intent to Play form by June 1, 2023, and a registration form by August 21, 2023. Teams must also play at least two scrimmage games against other SOWI teams and report their scores and commentary with their registration.

SOWI follows the Special Olympics North America (SONA) flag football rules, which are based on the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) rules. The rules are designed to ensure player safety, fair play and fun. Some of the key rules are:

– The playing field is 60 yards long and 25 yards wide, with two no-run zones near each end zone.
– The ball is a regular or intermediate/youth size leather or rubber ball.
– Each player must wear a mouthpiece and a one-piece quick release belt with three flags attached.
– The game is played with five players on each side, with at least one female player on the field at all times for coed divisions.
– The game consists of two 20-minute halves with a five-minute halftime.
– The offense has four downs to advance the ball across midfield or score a touchdown.

Madison Sports and Social Club (MSSC) is one of the largest providers of flag football in Madison. They run spring and fall outdoor leagues every year and fall and winter indoor leagues if they have a facility available. They offer co-ed and men’s leagues with different divisions based on skill level. They also provide shirts, equipment and referees for all their games. Northwest Wisconsin

The Northwest Wisconsin Champions (NWC) organization is a part of NFL FLAG Football, the premier youth flag football program for boys and girls ages 5 – 14. NWC offers different programs for different levels of skill and commitment, such as:

NWC/VSA Club Non-Travel League: This is a community-based program that runs from February to March and is open to all kids who want to learn and play flag football in a fun and safe environment. The program fee is $75 per player and includes an NFL FLAG jersey, flag belt, mouth guard, and insurance. The games are played at the Victory Sports Academy (VSA) in Eau Claire on Sundays from 1 pm to 4 pm.

NWC/VSA Club Travel Team: This is a competitive program that runs from January to May and is open to kids who want to play in regional and national tournaments against other NFL FLAG teams. The program fee is $150 per player and includes an NFL FLAG jersey, flag belt, mouth guard, insurance, and tournament fees. The tryouts are held at VSA on January 7, 14, and 21 from 1 pm to 4 pm. The teams are divided into four age divisions: 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U. The practices are held at VSA on Sundays from 1 pm to 4 pm. The tournaments are held at various locations throughout the Midwest, such as Green Bay, Minneapolis, Chicago, etc.

NWC Paul Bunyan Classic: This is a one-day tournament that will be held on May 25 at VSA. It is open to all NFL FLAG teams from any state or region. The tournament fee is $200 per team and includes an NFL FLAG jersey, flag belt, mouth guard, insurance, and trophies. The tournament will have four age divisions: 7U, 8U, 10U, and 12U. The games will be played in a 5v5 format with a 20-minute running clock.
