Scarborough Youth Football

Scarborough Youth Football is a non-profit organization that promotes youth sports in Scarborough, Maine. The flag football program is open to boys and girls in grades K-6. The season runs from late August to early October, with games on Saturdays and practices once or twice a week. The program follows the NFL Flag Football rules and provides each player with an official NFL Flag Football jersey and belt.

The coaches are responsible for teaching the fundamentals of the game, such as passing, catching, running, blocking, and defending.

The games are played on a 60-yard field with two 10-minute halves and a 2-minute halftime. The games are officiated by certified referees who enforce the rules and ensure fair play. The games are non-contact, meaning that there is no tackling, blocking, or kicking. Instead, players wear flags that hang from their belts. To stop the ball carrier, the defender must pull one of the flags off. If the flag is pulled, the play is over and the ball is spotted where the flag was pulled.

If you are interested in signing up your child for the flag football program, you can visit the Scarborough Youth Football website for more information and registration details. https://www.scarboroughyouthfootball.com/flag
