Friday Night Flag:

Friday Night Flag is one of the largest youth flag football leagues in the West, with over 8,000 participants in the past year. Their league spans several locations, including Boise, Meridian, Nampa, Pocatello, Idaho Falls, and Cache Valley. So if you are looking for flag football information in Idaho, this is the place! Whether you are a beginner just learning how to play football or a competitive player who wants to continue to develop their football skills during the offseason, Friday Night Flag has a place for you. Get ready for the ultimate experience, played Under the Lights on Friday Nights!™

Friday Night Flag is an NFL Flag-affiliated league open to boys and girls, ranging from Pre-K to 8th grade. Their games are structured 5 vs. 5 with 8-10 players on each team. They place a strong emphasis on fostering team play and sportsmanship. The league is designed for fast-paced, high-tempo gameplay, ensuring an exciting experience for players and parents alike.

Your child will practice once per week (1.5 hours maximum), ensuring equal playing time for all, regardless of skill level. Coaches may start practices a month prior to the games. Our regular season consists of a total of 5 games, concluding with playoffs and a single elimination championship on the final two Fridays of the season. Weather permitting, each player will have the opportunity to participate in a minimum of 6 games.

Throughout their participation in Their league, your child will develop character, quick football speed, and skill sets that include catching, running, pass coverage, run defense, and responding to a fast game tempo. Because they are affiliated with NFL Flag, your child will receive an official NFL Flag reversible jersey, a keepsake representing their team, named after one of the 32 NFL teams. Each player will also receive a pair of Friday Night Flag shorts and an NFL Flag belt. Every team is required to secure a Team Sponsor, as this ensures they receive their NFL jerseys and shorts provided by the league.

Optimist Youth Football – Boise Tackle, Flex and Cheer

The Basics: Tackle

Ages: 8-12 years

Season: Early August through October

Games: Saturdays, 7 games, Optimist Youth Sports Complex; Hill Rd, Boise (may include some limited travel to Treasure Valley towns; may include additional championship game)

Practices: In your neighborhood, 4 times/week (5 times in first 3 weeks)

Teams: Boise and surrounding towns

Cost: $150/season; jersey and helmet provided; other equipment available as package from area sporting goods stores

The Basics: FLEX

Ages: 8-12, Boys & Girls

Season: September

Games: FLEX football games will be played during the week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, during the month of September, with an end-of-season FLEX tournament the last Saturday in September.

Practices: In your neighborhood, once a week week (3 practices/week pre-season)

Teams: Boise and surrounding towns

Cost: $125/season; jersey and flags provided

Boise

Friday Night Flag
- As the name suggests, this league runs on Friday nights. It is a 5v5 outdoor league, available to both boys and girls from kindergarten through to 8th grade. The regular season is 5 games long, and is followed by 2 weeks of playoff games.

Meridian

Meridian Pal Kids Flag Football
- Meridian Pal runs a league from August through to October for kids between the ages of 5 and 13. Practices begin 2 weeks before the season starts. The season is 7 games long, with a 2 week tournament at the conclusion.

    Meridian PAL Flag Football (Meridian, ID) has announced the Spring 2024 Registration Information. The registration period starts on October 2, 2023, and ends on February 4, 2024, which is also the refund deadline. Late registration begins on February 5, 2024, and ends on February 28, 2024. Coaches Day at Heritage Middle School is scheduled for March 16, 2024, from 9-11 am. Practices can begin on March 18, 2024. The first regular season game is on April 6, 2024, and the regular season games continue on April 13, 20, 27, and May 4, 2024. The playoffs for SO, JR, SR, and Super SR are scheduled for May 11 and May 18, 2024.
    The registration fees for different divisions are as follows:
    Tots Division: $74 (4 year old)
    Pee Wee Division: $94 (5-6 year old)
    Sophomore Division: $104 (7-8 year old)
    Junior Division: $104 (9-10 year old)
    Senior Division: $104 (11-13 year old)
    Super Senior Division: $114.00 (13-15 year old)
    Late registration fee is $40.00 per child. There will be no play-ups or play downs allowed. Every child that registers will play in the age group that they should be playing in. Middle Schools serving Meridian, Star, Kuna, Eagle, and Boise (West Ada) are used for team formation purposes. All games are played at Settlers Park in Meridian.
    To calculate what group your child will fall into at registration, determine the age the child will be as of August 31st of the calendar year the season is played. For example, if a child will turn seven between January 1st and August 31st, he would play in the league that includes seven year old children. If a child will turn seven between September 1st and December 31st, he would play in the league that includes six year old children. Whatever age group the child qualifies for in the Spring Season will be the same for the Fall Season.

Idaho Falls

City of Idaho Falls Youth Flag Football
- The City of Idaho offers a league for children from 1st grade through to 4th grade, which runs from August through to October. The season is 8 games long. Games are played every Saturday, with one night game added for the last 2 weeks of the tournament.

Flag football headgear soft, padded helmets, in some leagues these are MANDATORY, especially for kids under 14.

Flag football flags and belts USUALLY supplied with your registration fee.

Flag Football Gloves for those SERIOUS players wanting a little extra grip.

Flag Football Shorts pockets are not allowed on your shorts.
