Neighborhood Sports

This is a premier NFL Youth Flag Football League for all girls ages 7 -14. Players of all skill levels play in a quality, non-contact league where having fun while competing is the #1 goal. The league runs from September 30th, 2023 to November 11th, 2023, with playoffs on November 18th, 2023. Each division winner will advance to the Neighborhood Sports State Tournament. The registration fee is $85, which includes an official NFL Flag Team Reversible Jersey, game shorts, flag belts, league-approved ball, regular season games, playoff tournament, facility rental, game officials, and end-of-season awards. Sportsplex West in Waukee, IA

The league is led by D1 Director of Football Operations, Karter Schult, a former NFL athlete. D1 Apex Academy is excited to introduce a unique offering of flag football competition by utilizing their 33,000 sq ft indoor facility. Sportsplex West | Athletics & Training in Waukee Iowa


– 7 week season.
– 7-10 players per team.
– No try-outs.
– Teams organized by age division (1/2nd grade & 3rd/4th grade, NEW this year 5th/6th grade).
– Practices held on game day – just prior to game.
– Volunteer coach basis – team provides coach.

– 5v5
– 50 minute games (two 25 minute halves)
– Played on Saturdays (games to start between 11:30-5:00 pm)

– Apr. 15 – League/Coach meeting
– Apr. 22 – Games start
– June 10 – Last games‍

Flag football soft cleats    metal cleats are NOT allowed in flag football.

Flag football headgear    soft, padded helmets, in some leagues these are MANDATORY, especially for kids under 14.

Flag football mouth guards   SO IMPORTANT for kids and MANDATORY for most leagues!

Flag football flags and belts    USUALLY supplied with your registration fee.

Flag Football Gloves    for those SERIOUS players wanting a little extra grip.

Flag Football Shorts    pockets are not allowed on your shorts.

Cheerleaders  everything you need to be a Flag Football Cheerleader!

Flag Football Sets These COMPLETE SETS come with flags, belts, end zone markers and more. Great for starting your very own backyard or community game!

Des Moines

  • City of Des Moines Youth Flag Football
    • The City of Des Moines hosts youth flag football leagues for kids in grades 1-7. Teams are divided into 3  age groups, and play games on Saturday mornings at an outdoor location. Practice takes place once per week. The season consists of 5 regular season games, plus a one-game playoff at the end of the season.

  • Metro Youth Flag Football Association
    • As of this posting date, the Metro Youth Flag Football Association has  stopped  flag football events. Their website directs to the YMCA. More information can be found by emailing kgay@metroymca.org.

Coralville, North Liberty & Tiffin

  • RedZone Football Academy
    • RedZone Football Academy offers flag football leagues for children in 1st grade through to 6th grade. There are 3 different age divisions, and 3rd-4th graders and 5th-6th graders are separated into gold and silver categories based on skill level. The season runs in the Fall, and games are played indoors.

    • City of Coralville Iowa Youth Flag Football
      • Flag football Teams are formed in North Liberty, Coralville and Tiffin. Youth are placed on the team in the city in which they registered.  All Coralville participants are placed on teams by school. Leagues are offered here for both boys and girls, in 1st grade through to 5th grade. Games are played on Sundays, and there is one practice session during the week. The time for this session is decided by the coach. The league runs over 7 weeks in September and October.

W NFL Flag Football | Waverly, IA (thewnflflag.com)

  • The W NFL Flag Football: A flag football league for girls and boys in grades 3-8, hosted by Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.
  • Events and Registration: The league runs from April 9 to May 14, 2023, with games on Saturdays and practices on Wednesdays. The registration fee is $75 and includes a jersey and flag belt.
  • Coaching and Contact: The league is coached by Waverly-Shell Rock Head Coach Mark Hubbard and the Wartburg football staff. For more information, you can email thenflflagfootball@gmail.com or call 319-352-8716.
